Slow Leadership offers ways of returning civilization and humanity to organizations.
It is essential that leaders think more clearly and make better choices, free from today’s constant obsession with meeting unrealistic, short-term expectations.
Slow Leaders are slow only in making irrevocable decisions or jumping to conclusions based on nothing but a quick glance and a belief in looking busy at all times.
The most important characteristics of successful leadership are to be found within the leader, not in college courses or textbooks. This takes time and requires a long-term perspective that is the antithesis of “grab-and-go” management.
We suggest that you slow down, but not simply to rest and renew your energy. You need more time to allow your innate powers of reasoning the relaxed atmosphere that they need to find solutions to the dilemmas that face you; and to question, again and again, whatever others tell you that you must accept on the basis of obedience to doctrine.
Our aim is to provide interesting and challenging articles to help you think through the issues and find ways to enjoy your life and work to the full. This is a blog about ideas, not quick tips. Our ‘credo’ can be summed up in these words from the Buddha:
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But if, after observation and analysis, you find that anything agrees with reason, and is conducive to the good and the benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”
We hope you will join us.
